Historical TravelMiddle Earth Pubs
» desertblue - Backpacking to Scottish Pubs I have been to England and Wales but somehow missed out on Scotland. I have this fantasy of backpacking to remote pubs and inns in the wilder areas. It would be very Lord of the Rings, in my fantasies. What do you think?-- posted by desertblue

That would be so cool... they shot it in New Zealand, if you want a place that is very Lord of the Rings-esque! Heheh. Scotland has been on my to-do list for a long time. It just sounds like a fascinating place!

But since I've been reading the books since the age of 15, and nearly yearly, I always imagined Scottish moors, somehow... -- posted by desertblue » desertblue - Backpacking to Scottish Pubs In response to Backpacking to Scottish Pubs posted by JenniferMiner:And YOU! Jen! Stop stomping my little fantasy. Hmmmph. -- posted by desertblue » GingerGee - Backpacking to Scottish Pubs In response to Backpacking to Scottish Pubs posted by desertblue:Hey, Kelby, Jen and desertblue. Honestly nothing could ever tarnish my fantasy of Scotland, and yes they are just regular folks, but they're regular folks that live in "Scotland". I just feel that somehow, maybe through osmosis, I could walk in the footsteps of Mary Q of S, William Wallace and some of the other great Scots and feel the history, not just read the history, see the history, but 'feel' it. And taste history...that's important...once I made my kids lick a rock known to be millions of years old, now they just kiss me if they have a need to taste history:)) -- posted by GingerGee
