Is Mel Gibson a bigot, a genius, suffering from some sort of personality disorder, or as my Daddy would say, just about a half a bubble out of plum. I think he and Michael Richards have gotten some pretty bad PR mainly because they just don’t know when to shut up Drunk or sober most of us have had to through that little section of hell when we realize that we’ve said something that can’t be taken back. Fortunately for us, Entertainment Tonight or Extra doesn’t care what we say or to whom we say it. Prior to Mel’s run in with Malibu’s finest, most of us looked at him as a genius, both in front of and behind the camera. I’ve been reading the reviews on Apocalypto and find it interesting that so many look at this movie as Mel’s indictment against all mankind. I really don’t know…but I still think he’s a great director and has given us some first-rate movies to watch. OK, so he does take some liberty with historical fact, but haven’t moviemakers been doing that since Hollywood was just an orange grove? For historical fact, I read history books, attend lectures and watch a lot of the History Channel. For entertainment I go to the movies.
