For a for a taste of the bright lights visit Nairobi, a lively cosmopolitan city. Kenya Honeymoon - The Masai MaraOne of the most famous places in the world to see wildlife in their natural habitat is the Masai Mara. There are a number of tented safari camps here which are the essence of comfort; some with thatched roofs which keep the tents cool. There are proper beds, some with verandas where it is possible to sit and listen to the sounds of the bush all around you. Some have small bathrooms at the back, with solar-heated hot water. At night the rustlings in the bush show that you are sharing this world with the animals who live here permanently. From your cosy bed you will hear all the different bird calls from the surrounding trees. It’s a tranquil, romantic place Kenya Honeymoon - Mount Kenya Safari ClubNorth of the Masai Mara is the Mount Kenya Safari Club, a place soaked in legend and romance, and facing the snow-covered slopes of Mount Kenya, Africa’s second highest mountain. What started out as a family home and farm in 1935 had by the 1950’s caught the eye of American film star William Holden when he was on safari with a couple of friends. He was so taken with the place that he and his friends built one of the finest clubs in the world, to which came people like Winston Churchill, President Tito, Charlie Chaplin, Ava Gardner, Frank Sinatra, Catherine Deneuve, and many more. Today, the Mount Kenya Safari Club is open to whoever wants to visit. William Holden built twelve deluxe cottages, each fitted with a sunken, black-tiled bath, fireplaces, and individual verandas and gardens. Holden had indeed bought something special. The wandering streams, forests, pastures dotted with thatched roof cottages, and the proximity of a wide range of big game, made this a place which attracted visitors from around the world. Activities include swimming pool, tennis, horse riding, golf, trout fishing, camel safaris, bird walks. And if you are not already married they will arrange an “Out of Africa’ wedding for you! Kenya Honeymoon - Mombasa and the CoastKenya has a beautiful coastline, with miles of white sands, and a warm sea. Kenya beach holidays are popular. There’s quite a difference in climate here, especially when you have come down from the north. The coastal belt is very hot, fine if you want loll around on the beach. Take a Mombasa tour and visit Fort Jesus, Mombasa’s biggest attraction, built by the Portugese in 1593 to ward off invaders. Check out the Omani House, located in the north-western corner of the fort for fascinating displays of Swahili life and breathtaking views over the old town. The Old Town is worth exploring, with its mixture of Indian and British colonial architecture. The Muslim influence can also be seen in the overhanging balconies with their delicate lattice work. Walking guides are available if you want to explore the town in depth.
